Welcome to Class 13's Blog!

Saturday 6 March 2010

What a packed two weeks we've had and more to come; there's always something to look forward to in school.

Our trip to Blaenavon Heritage Centre was a success; we had three very interesting characters from Victorian times telling us stories of their lives, all local characters. It was cold and snow- covered in Blaenavon, how the weather has changed in less than two weeks. Well done children for being so well-behaved on the trip, you were a fine example of Maesybryn children. Malcom and Ryan began swimming with the rest of Yr6 and the week ended with Ryan being chosen as 'Seren Yr Wythnos' for such impressive handwriting. Well done Ryan, it's good to see you take such pride in your handwriting. Our 'Seren Yr Wythnos' this week is Sukie Lawrence for showing such an improvement in her understanding in maths.

It was our Eisteddfod on Monday 1st March and it showed us the promise of Spring as the sun shone all day. It was warm in the hall but the children performed well and sat well while enjoying the performance of others. It was a day that made you feel proud to be Welsh and also proud to be part of Maesybryn as the performances were of such a high standard. Class 13 are looking forward to hearing the literary winners' stories. Thursday afternoon was spent with the rest of K.S.2 taking part in lots of fun exercises to raise money for N.S.P.C.C. All tasks were completed so be sure to bring your sponsor money in by 10th March. This is also the day that Class 13 are visiting church with Mrs Hayward. On Tuesday we will be watching a visiting production of 'The Selfish Giant', don't forget your contribution of £1.

I look forward to another busy week beginning with meeting with parents on Monday and ending with Malcolm's birthday on Friday.
