Welcome to Class 13's Blog!

Thursday 27 January 2011

Hello again,

Christmas is a distant memory now and we are already at the end of January. We are hoping that we have seen the end of the heavy snow and are now looking forward to signs of Spring, lighter mornings and evenings. The children have settled in well and are all working hard and trying their best.

Our theme this term has moved from 'Changes' and changed to 'Movement'. You should all have received a letter outlining what the children will be learning this term. In Science and P.E. they have already been looking at forces that move our body and objects; pushing and pulling. They will continue to look at forces, friction, and gravity. In Art they have been studying images and sketching people in movement. We plan to make a sculpture of a moving body and in D.T. will design and make a moving picture.

Our topic in History continues to be World War II focussing on rationing, the Blitz, and air raid shelters, and how Britain had changed at the end of this period. Any photographs or artefacts would be greatly appreciated. We are coming to the end of our reading of 'The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe' which links with World War II and Winter. We will then begin another Michael Morpugo book.

Please support your children by hearing them read, especially at weekends, encouraging them with their homework, and ensuring they keep their P.E. kit in school.

During the next three weeks the children will be completing their art and handwriting entries for our Eisteddfod. They will also be practising the Welsh poem copies of which will be sent home to practise.

All support is greatly appreciated.

Diolch
